In an effort to better serve the citizen of Amherst, the Town Clerk’s office will be attending an annual State required training seminar all day on May 8th. The office will reopen at 9am on Thursday, May 9, 2013.

 The Amherst Board of Selectmen, in accordance with RSA 31:95-b, hereby announces to the citizens of Amherst the convening of a Public Hearing to accept unanticipated revenue.

  •  Primex (NH Public Risk Management Exchange) of $6,925.00

The Public Hearing will take place at the Town Hall, 2 Main Street, at the Town Hall, 2 Main Street, at 6:30 PM on May 13, 2013.

Cemetery Trustees announce a residents information session

The Amherst Cemetery Trustees announce a residents’ Information Session, to be held on Monday May 6, 2013 at Souhegan High School Cafeteria, at 7 PM.  The Trustees will present information and documents on the history of Cemetery Field and how they are moving forward to develop Forestview Cemetery after September 1, 2014. They will explain how the Cemetery Trustees are charged by the State of NH RSAs and the Attorney General’s Office, Charitable Unit, to manage the Amherst cemeteries.

Request for Qualifications – Round II Community Planning Grant

The Town of Amherst has been awarded a Round II Community Planning Grant. The purpose of the grant is utilize the results of the Regulatory Review of the six water resource related ordinances, to combine and update with current Best Management Practices (BMP’s) the Watershed Protection District and the Wetlands Protection District in order to protect the high quality drinking water and watershed of the Town of Amherst and the region.

The revision to these ordinances will be an important contribution to protecting the Town’s and Region’s natural resources from degradation, as a majority of the Town’s Commercial and Industrial zoned land is undeveloped or underdeveloped, and sits atop one of the state’s highest quality aquifers.

2.)   N.H. Homeland Security Emergency Management funds of $13,692.70 for Hurricane Sandy
