Town of Amherst Board of Selectmen May 29, 2008 Special Meeting Minutes

A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was called to order at 7:41 p.m.  Selectmen present:  Bruce Bowler, Thomas Grella, Reed Panasiti and George Infanti.  Also present:  Town Administrator Gary MacGuire.

Chairman Bowler announced they were gathering to honor Barbara Landry and read a brief overview of her 37 years serving the Town of Amherst.  In recognition of all that Barbara did for the Town, he entertained a motion to officially name the meeting room on the second floor of the Amherst Town Hall as the Barbara Landry Meeting Room, Mr. Grella so moved, second by Mr. Infanti.  Vote: Unanimous. 

Barbara’s three daughters, Kyle Langille, Shauna Spurlock and Lauri Scharankov and husband, Larry were presented with a Proclamation that had been read by Mr. Bowler.  Mrs. Langille spoke briefly of her mother’s fond memories and thanked the Town of Amherst for this honor.  Skip Labarre spoke of the privilege of knowing Barbara socially and the establishment of a fund in her name to build a Selectmen’s table.  He and his wife, Trish, were seeking donations to have this built.  Mr. Grella spoke of his serving on the first five men Board of Selectmen and the honor he felt working with Barbara. 

Upon a motion made and duly second, the Board adjourned the special meeting at 7:53 p.m.

A small reception followed for family and friends.
