Amherst at 250: Then and Now!

Volunteer, and Help Make it a Success

Looking for something to do on the Fourth of July? Do you want to contribute to making the celebration possible and successful? If so, we have the perfect solution for you! The Fourth of July Committee needs help!

As the Fourth of July celebration has grown, so have the number of fundraisers that the Committee must run to support it. Selling drinks, slush, and hot air balloon rides on July 3rd, and selling drinks, hamburgers, and slush on July 4th help to defray costs but require large numbers of volunteers willing to give an hour or two. It is not hard work, and it is fun to be part of the excitement of the day!

Other volunteer opportunities include keeping the green clear of parked cars on Sunday morning, helping with the organization of the parade at the Wilkins School, helping to park cars at Wilkins, collecting signs at the end of the parade, and staffing the Committee Booth. Children in third or fourth grade are needed to hold lightweight sings identifying groups of dignitaries marching in the parade.

Anyone interested in helping with any of these activities should call Nancy Head, 673-1389 or e-mail her at . You may like it!
