The Amherst Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the infrastructure of the town. Though the DPW is most often recognized for paving roads in the summer, and clearing them of snow in the winter, their responsibilities go far beyond that. They maintain all town buildings, the cemeteries, the town green and parks, and also operate the transfer station and the Baboosic Lake Community Septic System. The dedicated staff consists of 15 full-time employees. Please call on them for assistance or any questions you may have regarding the town’s infrastructure. The business office is open Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM. The Department can be contacted at all other times for more urgent matters through the communications center.
